Patronising Attitudes
I was just wondering why some people have to be so patronising to others. Ever been around a group of people and feel the way that some are looking at you that you get uneasy? How about trying to talk with someone or being the new person and being ignored. And lets not forget the times when a person is speaking to someone and another walks up, butts in like your not there in the middle of talking and they walk off, leaving you standing there like an idiot ...
For some reason, alot of times, I can pick up on people that are in that situation. Why? Because I know it myself.
There was a biker at the event on saturday from South Dakota, he had parked his bike off to the side from everyone elses. Earlier I had seen him by himself and just wrote it off that he was getting his food and would join up with others he knew at the table. But after that he appeared again off to himself looking like he was lost. Then he was over by his bike all alone so I went over to him and asked about his bike "80 superglide with a newer transmission. No kicker cause at the time I replaced the tranny they didn't have a kicker kit for it. Painted it flat black but the gas spilled not long ago and that's why the yellow paint shows through." He grew up around Burlington and was out here visiting with his brother. He's also a missionary and has been all over the country. A lady came up and spoke to him a few minutes about the Patriot Guard and gave him her card. Another guy came up while we were talking and had a quick conversation as he was passing by. After that just he and I talked about bikes for a few minutes more before the music and short comedy part of the evening began inside. When it was time for the night ride I looked around for him but saw him no where around. As I waited in the chase truck for all the bikes to pass by before taking up my spot at the back, I watched for him to pass and didn't see him. Could be with all the motorcycles going by I only missed him in the group.
But today I looked for him and his bike and didn't see either. I knew exactly what he was feeling last night as I could see it in his posture and on his face when I walked up to him. I'm still wondering if that's why he wasn't there today.

Escorted Night Ride
Tonight was the beginning of the annual Biker Sunday event put on by the http://www.uncagedministries.org/ in Elon North Carolina. The day started off with rain which let up early, turned nice then began to rain again early into the festivities. Not sure just how many bikes where there but it was a good turnout with more riders coming in just as dinner was served. Lots of spaghetti was served up free to everyone with salad, bread and home made brownies. Tents had been set up outside to eat under as well as a pole shed which had a nice view of the bikes and soybean fields.
After the dinner we all went inside for some entertainment of singing and comedy. I wish I could remember the names of the people who put on the show for us but at this hour I can't.
The rain let up and the ride was on for the evening. I had been asked on Thursday if I would mind driving the chase rig for the group over the weekend. This was cool for me as I was happy to do it. Being that my bike is in need of a battery this gave me the ability to participate in the event. My son and two other teens rode with me in the truck as we pulled the back of the pack. There were police cars and/or fire trucks at every intersection along the hour long route. The group had a sheriff car in front and another right behind me. I joked earlier that it had been some time since I'd had a police escort out of town. We had a little bit of rain showers during the ride but nothing much or long. Even though I wasn't riding I was happy for all the others as they look forward to this evening outing all year long. Tomorrow brings more riding, weather permitting, and I'll be driving the chase rig again. Can't wait for that and it's sure a gas seeing all those motorcycles stretched out in front of me. I only wish we could find our 12volt power supply for our personal video camera and some great shots of the ride..

Gas Duh - Lem - AH
I went out to get some gas today and the two stations are empty that I went to and one said that the fuel delivery truck pumped into the wrong tanks. He can't sell any gas until the truck comes back and pumps out the tanks to correct the problem. What's the problem? I have not a clue to that one.
It's like the late seventies all over again with this gas thing. Who knows what the truth really is on all this gasoline shortage mess we are having these days. Me, I can't help but wonder where - under all the bureaucratic garbage - or when we will ever find out the truth. Could it be that all the gas miser vehicles being produced today could be part of the problem? NO, just wait a minute before you razz me on this. All of our state and federal highway systems are payed in large part with gasoline taxes. Big government loved the big three automakers who kept producing gas guzzling road machines with eight mile per gallon ranges. Why? It meant more tax and plenty of it for the highways and perhaps other government programs. In the eighties the big three began making cars with smaller less powerful engines for better mileages. Hm mm, gas began to climb up the scale as more and more hit the roads. Better mileage + less gallons bought + less taxes paid = less revenue. So the more fuel mileage goes up so does the price of a gallon of motor fuel to keep the taxes up to the same levels. Then you have the old less delivery to the stations and put the word out that gasoline is in short supply syndrome. This puts people in a panic - like getting bread and milk and eggs in fear of bad weather power outages - which sells out everything. Ka-ching ka-ching.
So, is it truly supply and demand or greed of the underhand?

Mid Life Crisis
I think that I am in the middle of my mid life crises here. There are things I've wanted to do and places to see and the fear is I'll never get to . People around me that were thought of as always going to be around are getting old and passing on. Seems as if all of life's demands have been making life's work just that, nothing but work. When I first moved out into my first job as a kid, the thoughts of making money to do things and go places around the country was a great concept. I got my first car but having a car is expensive and my money went to making insurance and car payments. Not to fret though as I just knew that if I could just make five dollars an hour I'd be set. Oh man there'd be money to burn then. But things get cloudy and you move into your first apartment thinking this is going to be great. Right before you move out your old car breaks down so now you need a newer one. Car payments again plus living expenses sets you back more. This sort of thing keeps happening and before you know it your middle aged. Everyone gets so involved with all sorts of garbage that you loose sight of yourself and what is really important. The computer age was supposed to free us up by helping get things done faster. But all they did was make it so we could do more work in less time for to make things to make life easier and faster so we can do more work. These days everything is faster faster faster. Rush to work, rush at work, rush home from work, rushing to make dinner, hurry through dinner, rushing to clean up, rushing to get showers, rush and bills paid, rushing to rush. We rush and rush through life afraid we won't get something done - that we'll miss out on some opportunity so we hurry on to finish the next task. All that crap we've rushed through life for to get and have is just crap that will still be around after we've gone. We don't have time for our family, our friends and for ourselves to enjoy some life. Before you know it people are dying off just as the days tick away and then it's your time to go to the great beyond.
Whats left of your life? A bunch of crap that will get sold off or hauled to the landfill.
I've heard that life is a two way street. Better look again buddy because life's street only goes one way and you can't recover miles by simply turning around. Life's highway crumbles away as we continue our short journeys through space and time.

SILVERADO MOVIE and SOMETHING COOL
The movie, Silverado, was on AMC tonight. This is one of those westerns that begins with a bang and then just keeps moving along. Though I have seen it many times it's still one to watch when it's on. Another movie that I like is 'The Outlaw Jose Wales" but for some reason it just doesn't get much airplay. But back to Silverado, Kevin Costner at the very end says "We'll be back" as he and Scott Glenn ride away leaving the pretty ladies behind (which was a very gooberish thing to do, duh). Was there going to be a sequel to this movie that never happened? Or were they just leaving that open in case of possibility?
Here is the cool thing (and I'm sure many will now say "I already knew that") that I noticed in the movie tonight that I'd missed before : In the scene with the house on fire Bryan Denehey (sp) who plays sheriff Cobb walks over to Kevin Kline who plays Peyton as he is tying back on his gun. The camera films Denehey with the flaming house behind him to make him look evil or devil like. Moving along, right near the end when Cobb faces Peyton in the street for the final showdown they each tell each other good bye and Cobb draws but Peyton is faster and drills Cobb. When the camera moves away from it's closeup on Peyton, The Church is in view right behind him to mean of course ... the Good Guy. I thought that was a pretty cool little bit of movie trivia sort of thing.

SONS OF PERDITION - MC
(Maybe you've heard of them and maybe you've not and one things definitely for certain... you will never want to meet them.)
S.O.P is certainly the worst of the worst MC club to ever exist anytime or anywhere barr none. It's not a club you'd want to join, be friends with , do business with, be within five states of,piss off, or look at. Their club patch - with the three headed dog Cerberus - is the most unmistakably one of a kind that adorns all full patched members. How many members are there is not known (except by top members) but the lower rocker states simply "Fifty/All". Fifty all does not mean there are fifty members total - it means members in the fifty states and all countries. It's been said people would be surprised of who some members are. Once you join this club there is no turning back to the life you've had before. Lifetime membership means just that - lifetime and beyond. (S.O.P.F - F.S.O.P) Sons Of Perdition Forever - Forever Sons Of Perdition.
Just thinking about them and writing part of their story gives me the sweats; I'm not a member and don't want to be. The name and patch logo have a trademark and it's one nobody should want to infringe upon.
