Confuses Say:

Trying to throw away broken and worn out trash can like trying to get bad relative to go away.
No matter how many time you put them on curb, they never leave.

Baseball bat and Police a lot alike.
You can never find one when being robbed.

________________________________________________________________________________________

You know, Conformity breeds complacency and this is one of the big problems of today. When we are children we have vision, imagination, individuality, insightful, honesty and must I go on. Parents and teachers say: Be your own person, don't follow others, don't worry what others think, dare to be different and don't let others decide your friendships for you. But then something happens, you are told to be like this or don't say that, be a team player and all that rot. It begins very early that others start telling them how to act and behave, what to like and not like. Wear what the others wear and individual thought is alright as long as the masses approve. Be your self as long as everyone else approves.
The non- conformist stand outs today are rare indeed.
After being pounded into conformity all your life you become complacent. We go about our lives, get caught in a rut and then wondered what the hell happened to the freedom and individuality we all hear about. We're so caught up in all the things we get brain washed into believing in our formative years that we go along and wonder why and how we got this way.

"Be true to yourself"
Being different is tough and you won't make many friends this way in the beginning. People will get their toes stepped on but one day they'll learn to move their foot.

There is an old saying: "You laugh at us because we are different, We laugh at you because your all the same"

Laying up of Fiberglass Seat Pan.

Well, it's almost time to begin the laying on of the fiberglass to my seat pan plug. It has been almost nineteen years since I've done any of this so we'll see how it goes.

Some Jack Off Stole My Trailer Hitch

Last week I mentioned having to get my truck worked on; when I picked it up from the shop last Sunday it was minus one trailer hitch. I took it in Thursday after work that week and only made two stops on the way to the shop. First I stopped at the local hospital for less than ten minutes to pick up some meds for my ailing father-in-law. Next stop was the drive thru at the bank then on to the shop. The truck was parked inside the shop when they closed, and I was only there minutes before they did, according to the shop owner. The next day, Friday, I wanted to go by and check on the progress on the truck but was asked not to waste the gas. So I don't know if my truck was really parked inside or not. It's not in my thinking that any of the shop took the hitch but more that it got gone from being parked outside. But again, I want to believe it was inside so the only other possibility is the guy parked next to me at the hospital in the crappy blue car who backed into that spot after I got there. He was just sitting there in the car smoking a cigarette not making eye contact with me when I looked over.
So with all that said and done, I am left with no hitch and we had been to five states and close to 200,000 miles together.
Now I am looking at every truck with a hitch like mine and wondering: "Are you the asshole that stole my hitch?"
I am finding it harder and tougher to trust anyone the more I get ripped off. I fear at times that I may revert back to my previous rage and temper that I have fought extremely hard to mothball for close to twenty years. And I do mean fought hard to do and continue to do so - .
You try to be nice to people and they mistake niceness as weakness.

Making a Motorcycle Seat

While my Sportster came with a nice, still in great shape, King & Queen seat, I really want a solo seat. Searching forums and the net there finally was one I liked but the seat is over two hundred dollars. First thought was going for a spring solo cause they look great. Thing is you sit closer to the tank and I want more leg room. Something that puts me down in the frame between the gas tank and fender. Now guessing that since the bike has shocks and not a hardtail, it should be no problem just finding a seat that mounts right to the frame. For newer motorcycles you can find a seat close but it is still costly.
So I've already made my pattern for my seat and at the moment it is in the process of forming to my frame. To cover the seat while on a trip to Georgia I happened into a place for a rest break. There was a rack with leather vests, jackets and such so I had me a look. Wish I had bought two vests but I didn't - hind site is twenty twenty - because the longer I have this one for cutting into bits for my seat cover I'm having second thoughts. The vests were marked down from $60 to $10 and are very soft leather. It is patched leather look and actually I liked the look of it to give the seat a nice detail from so many others. But I am having second thoughts about cutting it up for the seat now and may not.

The seat base pattern was cut from Gift box's then transferred to plywood for the base. Some aluminum diamond storm door kick panel was then cut out to the same shape from the pattern. The aluminum will be glued to the plywood base after it has been bent to the shape I want.
The aluminum will also help hold the fasteners better and give the wood base some needed strength.
I have the plywood forming to the Sportster frame with a ratchet strap over a sponge and using very hot water in a spray bottle to wet it down. And yes, I put a plastic garbage bag on the frame first to keep from soaking the bike wiring underneath the seat area and battery.
The process involves the hot water being sprayed on the wood giving it a good soaking and giving the strap clamp a couple of tightening clicks every hour or so. The sponge goes between the strap and the wood to help keep moisture in the area of bending longer.
I have bent entire sheets of plywood in this manner full lengthwise several times. (I was told by many it could not be done) My tear drop camper has had the front radius done this way by me, so Ha!

On the camper I used several strap clamps and as many other clamps in my possession to accomplish no split bending. It takes time a patience but is very satisfying when you see it form a radius successfully.
I need to go out and give the seat pan another good soaking right now. Slow and steady with the process gets the job done.

Save The Presses -Think Hard About This (Newspaper men are 1% percenters)

Communist countries kept their people in check by limiting where, how and when important information went out. Killing off newspapers and radio broadcasts unless it was for their own propaganda purposes. The only information people received was what ever Government threw at them.
Now think about today's information and how communication gets around. Still thinking? I'll wait another minute.

Radio stations are being put under such heavy regulations that certain information is not allowed. Radio talk hosts are being shut out for comments they make that may cause people to think.
Newspapers are going under everyday because of the electronic system of communication like, the Internet. We can't afford to loose the print media especially right now at this point in time in our nations history. Sure, maybe the news is a day late but a day late is better than not at all. Ever heard of telegraph lines? Well, this system was all the rage but when one party did not want others to know what was going on in other parts they simply cut the lines. Communication was halted between the other towns on the line until a rider could get through with news that Jesse James and his gang had just robbed the bank.

Television mostly only gives one sentence headlines on big issues while devoting coverage to safe topics like fitness. But you do have CNN and the like ... for now. Just wait until the new digital television is in full swing. Television was once a free system to us and was available to anyone who could afford a TV set. Then cable came in commercial free and was the main reason people wanted it. Now, after years of being in business you not only pay for television but you are also paying for all those commercials we are all bombarded with. People who can't afford cable and rely on the analog free television will be left in the dark on whats going on. Are the poor being targeted here in the electronic communication age? There are still people that don't even have a phone of any sort. What of the ones who are retired and being on a tight budget can't afford cable for television, cell phones or even a computer. These people are left out of the loop. A print type media can be shared in that when your done with the paper it can be given of left for another to read. The print media requires no outlet of batteries to operate, it can be read anywhere at any time.

Telephones, all of you that think going to just a cell phone is a good idea, you've bought into a bad reason for communication.

If a total power grid failure happens then we will be without any communication what so ever no matter what forces caused it.

When Government has all of the media outlets covered and under either cable or airwaves like they are going to now we're going to be screwed. All it will take is the flick of a switch and bang, cell phone towers are dead, cable television is dead, computer cable systems are dead. Radio stations will be either shut down or taken over just like they did in Germany under Hitlers reign. Then just how are you going to get the information that you need for an informed decision on what is happening. All you will get is word of mouth speculation from those in your own towns. What information will you trust?

We can not afford to let Newspapers go down the tubes as history has been that the newspapers have kept the nation informed since the beginning. Newspaper men fought and died for the right to print and keep us informed as best they could in dark and awful times more than any other single media known by man. The small town Newspaper owner is truly a one percenter.

Now think on your own about all this big push for years to go to plastic money. If you have no cash and the banks are taken over where are you. All of this has happened in the past folks before. What good is plastic money when the system is gone? Here is a close example, Mr. Don puts his whole check in the bank every payday and his wife has direct deposit, when ever they need some cash they use the teller machine. But one day a great huge storm comes and there is no power to transfer his wife's pay funds into their account. Mr. Don has deposited his whole check but the teller machines don't work. There is no cash in the banking system because it is all on paper now in computers that no longer work. A total system failure has occurred and all the numbers have vanished into thin air and you have no proof you even payed your bills. How do you buy food now that the whole electronic system has collapsed? Can you make that house or rent payment now? It's all sort of like your 401K information now. We are told that the numbers shown on those statements don't really mean anything, it's only numbers on a piece of paper and not real dollars. They are not real dollars until you take it out.

Going total electronic with everything is a bad mistake folks, bad mistake. And just why is it the analog cell phones and television are being shut down? Who is buying up all the radio stations and putting a gag on the stations on just what and who says what and plays what? Who is Clear channel really?

If we allow this trend of electronic only media to continue we are going to be fed more mis- information and propaganda than you can imagine. We'll all be singing Led Zeppelins communication break down song and crying and voicing to, well, nobody because there will be no public communication unless we keep print media alive and well. The whole electronic newspaper situation can be compared to a car and a bicycle; with no gas to fill your cars gas tank you aren't going anywhere and with no more gas being made your screwed. With the bicycle, you may not get around as fast but you still get around.
Electronic media and communication = gasoline and the governments control of it: Bicycle = Print media and the constitutional right of freedom of the press.

Whats more green friendly anyway? Electronic home computers and laptops , cell phones and throw away batteries, or print media with soy inks which uses way less fossil fuels to run and it's base of pulp can be recycled and used again and again unlike fossil fuel to run electronic systems.
ARE AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS RELATED TO OUR SENATORS?

While my son and I were on our way to Atlanta over the weekend, the heater core decided to give up on the truck. Have you ever driven over a thousand miles with a bad heater core? The stinch and the think antifreeze that gives an awfull taste in your mouth and gets on your cloths just from going down the road is nasty. In the old days this was something you could easily replace yourself. Not today though. I checked on replacement core at several auto parts stores and the price isn't bad, about $61 for the core itself. I checked because the two repair quoted me $500 and the other quoted $700 to do the job. My reaction was not a good one and some/a lot, of cussing ensued. This seemed way out of line just to replace a little heater core. So a drive to one of the shops was a good idea to find out just why this should cost me almost as much as a tranny rebuild.

Going in I said is this the best price you can give me on this? How but a little break being a repeat customer and all. He told me it was a labor intensive job. Just so happens there was a truck the same year, make and model as mine in the shop and, almost the same amount of miles. The heater core is way under the dash next to the windshield and against the firewall. The idiot engineers put this in a spot that is inaccessible except by basically gutting the interior of my truck to get to it. The seats have to come out and the whole dad blame dash all the way to the firewall has to come out. And I mean the whole damned dash and everything with it.
Then part of the engine components under the hood have to be removed as well. Now before this, I thought my wife's Chevy Lumina battery placement was the worst engineering thing I'd seen. A common item that needs replacing from time to time like a battery should be easily accessible. Not in an engineers thinking it isn't. Her battery requires removing a metal brace, windshield wiper reservoir and another mechanical part just to get to the battery tucked way down hidden below. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID. And auto zone with it's free battery replacement with purchase does not apply. They wouldn't do it, period.

With my truck, a job that should be able to be done in an hours time has become an act of congress to do. Are all these so-called engineers flaming idiots like our senators or what? I'd just bet that some new car in the future will require removing the engine, tranny and whole front end just to replace your wiper blades.

Certain things on a vehicle should be easy to replace such as, batteries, heater cores, radiators, air filters, oil filters (Another nightmare on some cars), spark plugs, fan/serpentine belts, radiator hoses, alternators and water pumps. These are the most common items to go bad but engineers decide to make replacing these items as difficult as they can and simply put them in the stinkinest worse inaccessible places.

Good God, are we becoming a nation of people with no semblance of common sense???

OH!! And one more thing is how Chevrolet has been making Luminas, Buicks, Motecarlos and other vehicles with the 3.8 engine knowing there is a FIRE problem. After years of contacting and trying to get our car fixed because of another engineering blunder with the intake gaskets, there is finally a recall. Thing is, we found out about other recalls and we have never been notified of a single one. Even when the dealer was doing all the maintenance on our car. Chevrolet has been hiding this from the public until now after they are in finacial trouble. We have not moved and we have the same address we have had for seventeen years.

ONE PERCENTER (The legend of the outlaw biker)

Being a writer myself I'm always looking for a good read. I found this book simply by the nature of good luck while searching for something else. The title intrigued me as did the cover photography. Hell, the picture on the cover even looks a lot like myself, imagine that. In reading the book it is not like most others written about bikers. This book goes into great depth of the history of one percenters from Vikings, Huns, Mongols, Genghis Khan, pirates, western outlaws and many more. There are also pages chock full of our countries history that gives this read one that's tough to put down. Dave Nichols has written probably the best book explaining the one percenters ideals than any other title out there thus far. Give this book a chance and you might just find something in it that explains who you are.

AOL Bites Ass Big Time

I tell you what, AOL is the biggest piece of crap email system out there. With Roadrunner aol mail is free but I have had nothing but problems with it since they supposedly upgraded their system. Can't reply, forward, save a draft email, and very very rarely can send an email. But oh they have all this crap load up when all you wish to do is read or write mail that you have to deal with. If I want news I'll go to a news site.
My gmail account has always been the best system ever and thanks to my friend who told me about them when they first got it going, I'm so glad I did. We used it for our concert promotion with out a hitch

Sportster - Hell Day

Today began like a tornado, my father-in-law was released from the hospital after a week and called first thing in the morning that he was coming to get his dog. I went out to tell the wife and she was on the other phone, dogs were barking, she was working and shortly after, one of my brothers calls and says: "Pop is calling 911 because Mom isn't acting right."
All this and I'd only been awake for thirty minutes or so.
After awhile with Mom on my mind I headed out to the garage to work on the bike. The seat I'm trying to make for it needed more work on the template. My little pea brain was swimming with everything going on but going ahead was what was needed. Getting the template done took little time and then it was transferred to a wood base. Time was spent trying to figure out what would be best for the mold setup which still is undecided as yet. As luck would have it, the wife comes out as I'm getting ready to cut the wood base out and takes it. She is a heck of a good scroll saw operator. She cut that baby out leaving very little sanding to be done on it. Saved me a bunch of time and aggravation with a coping saw and sandpaper.
Next up, seeing if the bike would start. She wouldn't of course. Using some starter fluid (Ether actually) she'd fire then quit, fire then quit. Then giving it a good shot got it to run half a minute before she backfired through the carb and flamed up at the throat. I took a rag and snuffed it out.
Dickering around with it got the best of me after an hour or so of cranking, run a few seconds then quitting. I had to come in and calm down. I hadn't really realised how much everything was overwhelming me. Thinking that working on the bike would get my mind off things while waiting for an update call about mom was wrong. Usually tinkering with something helps, but not this time.
I was fed up with the Sporty and ready to sell it or part it out. After posting my woes on the motorcycle forum, some of the people there gave me advice to step away a bit from the bike to clear my head. So that's what I did. Just could not do it long though as I was determined to get her to crank over. Going back out after thinking things through on what the problem could be, pulled the carb bowl drain to check the fuel. Nothing came out. Bingo! No fuel no run. Working the petcock back and forth got fuel flowing into the overflow bottle I'd set under the carb.
Put the drain plug back in and with no choke hit the make shift starter button and she wanted to start. Stood the bike upright off the kickstand but then I see gas coming outta the (More to that but keeping it short here) overflow. Turning off the fuel then hit the starter again. Bam! She fired right up just like that as if it'd been running all day although popping a little. Turned the fuel back on and ran it up to clear the carb and she went to a good idle.
Now if we can get good news back on mom that she's running fine.
