Homeless man Finds Bonds

Have you heard about the homeless man in Detroit who found some bonds in the trash?
Seems that he was searching through the trash for bottles and found some $21,000 in bonds in a bag of clothes. He turned them into the homeless shelter who contacted the family of the owner. The owner had died in 2004 and his clothes were thrown out. Anyway, thwe family claimed the bonds and left a $100 reward for the man who found them.

You know what? That really sucks of the family. This fellow finds bonds they didn't even know about and all they can give him is a lousy $100. They should have done more for him. I mean, they could show more thanks by perhaps helping him somehow. He could have just as easily destroyed those bonds because he knew he couldn't cash them in. He did the right thing and still got screwed.

Diesel Powered Motorcycles

A couple of years back when I was writing for Garage Choppers, we had a discussion about bio-diesel. It was all related to what has NOW become the fore front of many discussions on the Radio and the net. Why do we keep paying such high prices at the pump when we can drive diesel and make the fuel to run it at our own home? You can make your own fuel from corn and other plant life that is re-newable. The highest octane fuel is obtained from fruit. But the thing is, is that you can make your own fuel cheap and right at your own home. The process really isn't that complicated to do.

Farmers can now make a decent living that they deserve from their own fields that the Government won't let them grow food on. Could it be soon that the farmers will band together and be the next multi-billionaires in the fuel industry? Will the government finally use the highway medians and shoulders to grow corn for fuel on otherwise un-used land? Will people begin growing their own fuel in their own yards? Only time will tell.

Did you know that you can make motorfuel for gas engines from rice? It's true I tell you. What do you think the Japanese Zeros ran on? They ran on rice fuel of course. That's the reason for the term "Rice Burner" that is used today when referring to a Japanese motorcycle.
And speaking of Japanese motorcycles and bio-diesel, Kawasaki has been making a motorcycle for the armed forces, which our military has used, together with a company in California. It's the M1030M1 and it gets a whopping 120mpg and has a top speed above 85 mph and a lot of pulling grunt power.
But they, Kawasaki, were not the first to make such a vehicle. Royal Enfield was making them long ago as were other companies on a small scale. There is even a fellow who has made a Diesel Powered Harley Davidson Fatboy that he runs off of Soybean Oil. You can run a bio-diesel from many forms of oil. Canola, soybean, corn, sunflower and all the others right off the store shelf in a pinch. Check out this site for plenty of information on Diesel Powered Motorcycles http://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_bikes.html

While your at it; why not make your own electricity as well? Buy a diesel powered generator and make the bio-diesel to run it. Hey! Almost free fuel for your ride and for your home plus you can fry up some chicken and when your done, pour the strained oil in your tank and ride to the beer store.

The bottom line to all of this is that car and motorcycle manufacturers have the knowledge and the ability to give us higher fuel economy vehicles but the government wishes to keep us addicted to gasoline fuel.

P.S
Did you know that the fuel oil used to heat many homes is the same thing that is run in vehicle engines? The only difference is that the diesel used on farms and for heating oil has no road use tax on it. They also put a colored dye in it and if you are caught using the fuel oil on the road there is a hefty fine. But...When you purchase gasoline for your dirtbike, fourwheeler, lawnmower, log splitter , chainsaw etc. you ARE paying a road tax on it. Does that suck or what?

Oh! and one more thing here. If your car gets wrecked and/or totaled and you had gas in the tank...go to the lot and drain it out. It is yours and does not belong to the wrecker company. Your insurance does not reimburse you for the gas/diesel and at todays prices you can't afford to leave it there. Because believe you me, the wrecker companies count on you leaving it there so the can run all their personal and company vehicles for free at your expense. Go to a junk yard and check out the wrecks. Find any fuel in any tanks?

401 K Loss

This hacks me off that my 401k has lost money again. I'm almost back down to were I was at the end of 2005 with it. Back in 2001, I lost almost all of it but was advised to leave it in. I was told "It will come back." My answer to that was that not the money I lost because its gone.

Now it's taking a dive once again and I can't keep taking losses like this. Thing is, they never tell you why its gone...just its gone. I even wondered if the company I was with in 2001 may have dipped into it but there's no way to tell.
I'd be better off taking it out and buying savings bonds. At least you know they will be there. Sure, they don't earn as much as a 401k but when your 401k can drop like a lead balloon over night then the saving bond is a better bet. Plus, your not taxed and penalized all to hell and back with a bond. You've already paid tax on the initial investment.

Think I'll pull my 401k and put it in bonds. What good is 30,000 in 401k when tomorrow it's gone out the window and you have to begin again which I've already done once?

Jagged Metal Found in Chip Bag

Today while eating some chips, my son found a jagged piece of metal about and inch long in the bag. According to his mother it was shaped like an arrowhead and was very sharp. Had he tipped the bag up to his mouth to get the last few crumbs, he probably would have been cut in his mouth.
His mother took the bag back to the store and told the manager, who tried to give her a new bag. She said no that all she wanted to do was inform them so they could check the other bags on the shelf.
Needless to say, I did not see it because I was at work but my son says that the metal looked like a piece of flashing tin and it had been pushed through the bottom of the bag near the seam.

Sounds to me like a case of tampering by someone shopping in the store. I'm just glad my son pours the contents out before eating them. Had he tipped up the bag to get the last crumbs this would have had a terrible outcome.

SEX

My son has all these girls calling him and emailing all the time. One of them even gave him a Sexy Hooters Girl swimsuit poster for his room. Now he's bugging me to take him to Hooters for lunch so he can check out the ladies.

Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and take him this weekend.
Ho hum. The things we fathers have to go through for our sons.
We Owe Them Damn it

So many of our soldiers are coming home to nothing. They put their lives, not just body, but soul and well being as well on the line for us. And not just the short term but in the long outlook to. What have many of them found when they returned after having served so well? After helping to free and give people from a disfunctional country a better life. They come home to find out they have no home, no job prospects and nothing more than a piddly sum of $337 or less a month for a disabled vet. They try to adjust and return to a normal life after living 24/7 on the alert. The possibilities of realistic death looming over them at all times in a war zone that has no clear definitive lines.

These men and women are getting the shaft and being thrown to the wolves in an economy already in a huge job decline. In this, the world at home, they have to start all over again and those with families to support who once lived in military housing are made to leave finding themselves without shelter. Oh sure! Some will say they could get a job flipping hamburgers but who can support a family much less themselves on pay at or just above minimum wage? A cheap apartment goes for $350 for one room.

The military gives soldiers training after training for going into battle however, there is no training or help when their time of serving us is up. Ex convicts get more help being re-introduced into the world beyond the walls than a soldier does.
According to government figures, there are around 200,000 homeless vets from Vietnam to now and those figures are only going to rise.
Military ads proudly claim that they give soldiers skills that they can use in civilian life. Yea right! How many jobs do you know of for a tank gunner or foot soldier etc? We have plain old bums who have never held a job getting social security and housing for free for having done nothing. And we have illegals living off of us with free government help and services they have not a right to. All of these do gooders standing up and speaking out for illegals and their rights to the American way of life loudly everywhere.
Who is standing up and screaming out loud for the veterans who deserve it but don't receive it?

Our veterans deserve better than this from us and our government who sent them in harms way for others. There are used mobile homes just sitting on lots all across this nation. The government has millions of acres of un-used land and empty lots around. Can't we at least give these soldiers a home for a transitional period back into civilian life? We do it for them when they are in training for war. Shouldn't we provide for them just as much when they return home to us? It is not just to treat them as has beens and tell them thank you...see you later...bye.
