Uncles Confession To Me

I have an Uncle who is a retired college professor. He was a rider for years and years since before I was even a gleam in Pops eye. We kids always looked forward to his visits when he'd ride one of his Bikes down from Michigan to escape the cold. Not long ago while we were talking, I mentioned a trip when he came down and took us all on short rides around the streets near our home. Cool baby, and all the kids got to see us on that big assed bike with the ponytailed and bearded Uncle.
But during that reminiscing talk he confessed to me. He said that trip was good for him too and it was on that trip he realised his marriage was over. Not that my aunt and he were enemies just that they wanted different things and had drifted apart. They had arguments but not the really nasty kind and their troubles never spilled over to my cousin. She wanted fancy things and he really cared less about status Quo. She wanted him in suits and ties and he always preferred t-shirts, blue jeans and flip flops.

I was very young and only remember my Uncles first wife very little and I've never seen my cousin since a trip before the divorce we took up there. I know his second marriage did not last long at all, man she was a freak a zoid. His third wife though, shes perfect for him and they have been married a long time now. Most the time they still get along just like two teenagers and are always laughing and joking around with each other.

On that trip on his motorcycle he was able to clear his head, visit with my Pop, take a load off, and bring laughter and joy to our family even though he was in a tough spot. Yea, he's a good man and I love him like an Uncle and thank him for my first ride all those years ago.

Hell, I was starting to think I was your Uncle. Done that.

You know, reading this stuff really helps me realize that no matter who you are, we are all the same it some ways and that whatever we might be going through, someone else has already been down that road.

It really makes you realize that no matter what is going on that you are never alone. Good stuff.

Great example of how one of the perks of a good ride is getting your head straight.

im with dave. not only has someone before us been down this road, but someone is maybe going down this road now, or is creating the road to go down later...

the commonality in itself is a brotherhood. dont cha think?!?...

thanks for the great flashback to my childhood rides with family.

Isn't it strange how somehow all of us can relate to real life instenses. I guess like this post you can be talking with somebody and listening to a story and it sounds so familiar.
