Give up? They have no engine manual listed for this engine) Hahahahha take me to the looney bin now.

I have this Ride mower with the Kohler 16.5 engine that won't start. There is no spark and checked all my safty switches. The engine turns over strong. Below is the part I suspect to be bad but it's not a coil or rectifier/regulator. There is a part number on it (9823REV-A) and another number (100532) but when I search the Kohler site it tells me this is not a good number. So I went to around ten other mower parts site and I get the same thing plus, checking all electrical parts on all sites they show nothing at all remotely like the part I have. Now to me this part would be the magneto but again, there is no search that will verify this. There are two wires that come from it and plug directly into the coil - one is yellow the other is black - there is also another black ground wire and other wires that go to the rectifier and fuel solenoid for a total of five wires coming from it.

Here are the Numbers for the engine: (Family) - SKHU26U1G2RB. (Model) - CV16S (Spec Number) - 43520 (Displacement) - 426cc (Serial Number) - 2904602943
I wanted to find also what the ohms and resistance are so I can check to make sure this thing is bad or not. But can't find these ohms if I can't even find what the part is.

Numbers here are 100532

Here is the place the yellow and black wire attach

Complete view of part

Other set of part numbers that Kohler says don't exist. So what the hell is this part called?

Needless to say is that as always it seems, the part I need can't be located without several lost days of searching. It was the same when I went to sears site to find the itty bitty brake shoes for it, their site did not have them listed at all even in the exploded view if the suspension and drive train system. Finally had to drive twenty miles to get the shoes from an independant dealer.

Hey, that aint a bike. That’s mower! You sure are putting the ole’ doc on the spot here. Don’t know if I can pull this patient through. But I took a oath to not let any engine suffer, so lets give it a try. After hacking into Kohler’s web site and crossing the part #, the new # is 12-584. Go to – ereplacementparts.com – scroll

N to lawn & garden, then Kohler. Enter your mod. and spec. Should be on page 10 of the parts diagrams. If I find specs on the part I’ll let you know.

Well hell Willy, there is the part on page ten of diagrams. I was happy to find it. Hahahaha, but just as my luck goes that part is not listed and there is no name for it listed. I'm gonna go sip on some Southern Comfort now as I have to laugh before I cry.

I'm counting on you now Willy.

Hmmm, lemme see that again.

Looks to me Willy like they're calling the coil a module and I need the part that looks like #25. Am I missing something such as they now call a coil a module?

Hey Willy!

Found that electrical part is called a "SAM" for short. It's still good. Thanks man for the help.
