Holley Motorcycles

Well, Billy and I had a mission today; drive to Salisbury North carolina and meet Hugh from Hugh's Handbuilt to pick up a Brat style frame. Hugh is an interesting fellow and likeable straight off, but, that's not where this is going.
On our way out we stopped in at another of Billy's friends, Bill, who has bought the 1979 Superglide with the Holley Four barrell carb on it. This was a surprise so I have no pictures although you can see the bike on

and after hanging around checking things out it got me to wondering. I wondered if Holley,of Holley carburetor fame,  Did Holley ever build motorcycle carburetors. Little did I know, George Holley and his brother  Earl did in fact build motorcycle engines and motorcycles in a factory in Bradford Pa.Their first was built in 1901 and called the Autobike which had a frame design that became used by other motorcycle manufactureres.

Hey...that's pretty interesting crap there. I would say more but I have to go back and finish reading the rest of it.

Thanks for the pointer.

Some EVOs were built with Holley carbs but from what I can tell, most of the owners of these factory installed Holleys are less than happy with them.
