A Toast in Honor

One of my Brother's in law passed Thursday last, his funeral was yesterday. I toasted at home with his favorite beer. He obtained the respect of those around him during his life, he was a good man, father, husband and friend. I'm not just saying those things because he is now gone, it was said often enough when he was still alive.
When I called my sister several things came up in our discussion. I told of the time when I was ,maybe 12, could have been thirteen, and I had spent the night at their small apratment. The four of us, my young niece included had already eaten dinner. Ralph and I sat on the couch watching a ball game with their dog at our feet and my niece doing little niece things while Sis cleaned up the kitchen. She didn't like folks messing in her kitchen so it's best to be out of the way. During a commercial break Ralph got up, quickly opened the fridge and returned to the couch, popped open a beer and gave me the other one. There we were. Two men having a brew, bellies full, watching the game.

I never forgot that and my Sis was surprised I remembered it. I told her the beer was either a Miller or old Milwaukee. She said matter of fact: "Ummm, that would have been a Miller No doubt."
So I told her I'd drink a toast to his honor, she said he'd like that.

Good bye brother, you done good.

What a great memory. It brought a smile to my face to think of how "grown up" that must have made you feel.

I'm sorry for your loss and please accept my condolences.

RIP Ralph
