Riding North Carolina

There is more to riding in North Carolina than just Deals Gap and the Blue Ridge Parkway, although they are beautiful places to venture no doubt. Sometimes though you just want to get away from the crowds. There are fantastic roads down by the coasts with long stretches through horse farm country, through small towns towards Southern Pines then heading towards Wilmington with thousands of acres of Hardwoods and planted Pines, plus winding roads in Person and Caswell Counties. Soon, very soon I'll be taking you there and perhaps Virginia.
Another one of my near friends is working on getting his bike going and my new friend is waiting on us. He's ready to roll in directions that I said "We'll just point our forks a direction and go. See what we find when we get there." Yea, he says that's the way he like it to. No real direction, just go with the flow like life and see what's around that bend.

I concur. North Carolina is a beautiful state to ride in. Several years ago I was out there, heading west. No particular road, just west. Ended up on a narrow two lane stretch of asphalt in western NC that weaved around a river somewhere in the mountains near Asheville.

Beautiful scenery & fantastic road. Ride safe, my friend.

Just ‘might’ be about 300 miles from you late summer of 2011 if things go as planed.

FLHX Dave, ahhh, I as well.

Razorsedge,

Plenty of scenic road I've yet to see round these parts. It can be fun getting lost when you have the time, and perhaps a Garmon to get you out of a jam. I like it up around Boone in the fall but it can get a tad chilly up there.

Willy D,

We should meet up if your going to be that close.

That’s why I mentioned it of course.
