Right-Of-Way bill

If your a Motorcycle rider you really need to read this and know about it. I helped work on this when I was writing for GarageChoppers. Some things we worked hard to change were for example, when a driver hit a motorcyclist causing severe injury or death that penalties should be higher. It was common practice for lawyers to have clients plead down their case to a lessor charge, pay a $25 fine and walk out of court. What was cause for much anger was that an offender could plead down to a $25 fine even after causing injury while a motorcycle rider could be charged a $50 fine just for not wearing a helmet. $25 was also the amount for a seatbelt fine. Therefore, a pedestrian or motorcyclist life was only worth a paltry $25 dollar fine and slap on the wrist.

It is sad knowing how low the penalties here are for injuring and killing a motorcyclist.

In Oregon the erring driver will usually get a 'failure to maintain lane' ticket and go on their merry way and the injured party (or their family) has to sue them in court or go through their insurance.

So sad, and so wrong.
